Seani B

Personality alongside instant impact coupled with skill, know how and swagger; these are the key components that make up leading popular British radio DJ and presenter Seani B.Seani B began DJing as a youngster in the late 80’s with his older brothers in a popular sound system. As well as DJing, his expertise and keen ear for music was shown in shifts at local record shops in West London where he educated himself on many genres.During this time, Seani B started to hone his broadcasting skills on a local community station.

Born in London, Seani B has taken the cosmopolitan surroundings he grew up in and incorporated them into his unique musical blend. From Dancehall to Hip Hop, R&B to House and even Soca to Rock; if it is musical, Seani B will be all over it.In 1994 he amalgamated his technical skills and his knowledge of crowd pleasing and released a bootleg dancehall reggae remix of the Case and Foxy Brown classic track “Touch Me, Tease Me”. The track was an instant global success and immediately saw Kiss FM call upon his services as an in house mixer, creating bespoke mixes for reggae DJ David Rodigan. It wasn’t long before the “Seani B” treatment was being given to a number of tracks and mixes, which consisted of dancehall beats combined with R&B and Hip hop vocals and vice versa.

Demand grew for his unique sound which prompted him to set up his own production company, Big League Productions. Seani’s Production credits for remixing and Producing is not something to be frowned upon. The list is pretty impressive, Lauren Hill to Morgan Heritage, Destiny’s Child to Gully Bop. Beenie man, Vybz Kartel, Wretch 32 have all been blessed with the remix kids touch. Seani would say that his most significant musical moment was the UK Dancehall hit he produced for the late Tubby T “Ready She Ready”

2002 was a pivotal year for Seani. The BBC had been granted a digital licence for a new nationwide black music radio station, 1Xtra. Seani has been a huge part of the BBC 1Xtra and BBC Radio 1 team for over a decade showcasing his skills in Daytime and Specialst radio. His time at the BBC has seen him broadcast from Jamaica to Japan. Notting Hill Carnival, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and so many other locations.

Still signed to BBC 1Xtra, Seani B now showcases the hottest Reggae & Dancehall music from around the world every Thursday night from 10pm GMT. Travelling to Jamaica and anywhere else in the world for that BIG interview with the BIG names. He’s also constantly in the studio working with the likes of Morgan Heritage, Capleton, Cecile, Stylo G to name a few.

His work on the live circuit should not go unmentioned. A much-in-demand DJ, Seani doesn’t have a “stock” set, instead he has the ability to judge a crowd, know what they want, and deliver it on the spot… prep required!!!! Seani is not just a DJ, he is a host and Entertainer. This is proven every time he hits a club leaving the ravers wanting more.
